Woolston, Southampton, the forgotten suburb

This walk will give a brief history of Woolston, taking in the various used ways to cross the River Itchen by way of the Floating Bridge, Itchen Bridge and the Itchen Ferry. It will also incorporate the birth of the Spitfire and bombing of the Supermarine works.
The walk will continue up a steep hill to Pear Tree Green and visit Pear Tree churchyard where we will look at some of gravestones – the most famous being that of Richard Parker.
The walk is a brief history of Woolston and its surrounds, both past and present.
